Miss Me?

I'm back in the great state of OKLAHOMA! And I am soooo glad to be back. I'm done with family drama and back to my busy, happy, Accidental-Southern-Girl life. Had a great (and stressful time) at home but I'm ready to be back at Lollie's... pronto... as soon as the snow clears off.

While in Oregon:

* I used my surf spray and thickening spray the most.
* I used the reactivating mist a few times too
* I dont recall using hairspray - because I got enough hold with the surf/thickening sprays
* I wore my LaBellaDonna lips every day (red lips = major confidence booster).
* And I used my Blinc Mascara every single day.
* Oh and I used a cute headband/earwarmer (whatever way you look at it) that I got at Lollie's last winter a whole bunch due to the fact that I was outside every single day and it was friggin cold - but not as cold as it is here right now.

And for family pictures (family not pictured here obviously) I did curl my hair a little... but then didn't like the curls so I sprayed surf spray on top of them and scrunched and "ta-da".

So - after the snow clears up a bit here in OK and I can make it to my truck without falling on my hiney, and I can back out of the driveway without fear of running into something, and i can make the drive to Lollie's without fear for my life .... that's when I will see you!

What to Pack?

As I stated in my previous post, I am not from Oklahoma. I am an Oregonian to the core. Ask me if I have webbed feet! ;-)

Anyways – I will be taking a month long trip home, with my family, and I am starting to stock up on goodies to take with me.

Here’s what I have so far:

Thickening Serum and Thickening Spray.

I just had a beautiful baby girl in April! And in exchange for her sweetness, I had to loose my hair I guess. My hair has never been this thin before in my entire life due to these wacky hormones! So over the last month I have been using the Thickening Serum religiously and I’m actually beginning to notice my hair feeling a little thicker, a little stronger, and I don’t know if this is coincidence or the product – but my hair loss has recently decreased greatly.

I use Thickening Spray all over (roots to ends) to give my hair a thicker, fuller look and feel. It’s safe to say that the Thickening Spray has been our best selling product for years and it truly helps those of us who have fine or thinning strands feel better about ourselves.

Also – I’ve packed up some Tonic and Brilliantine.

Tonic is my favorite thing ever. It’s lighter than water so it doesn’t weigh your hair down at all, yet conditions my hair and prepares it for any product I will be using. But, really, the main reason why I love it is the smell. It’s loaded with peppermint and rosemary and tea tree and lemon grass – BAM! All my favorite scents packed in one little bottle of bliss. Also, recently, I read an article about how peppermint and rosemary oils are supposed to boost hair growth – wether you believe that or not it’s worth a try right? Tonic nurtures the scalp – and a healthy scalp means healthy hair, which provides potential for lots of hair growth, right?

Brilliantine is my go to for a little shine and a little frizz control while still maintaining my messy hair looks. I will be using this every single day while I am home. Fact. On my natural curls, my straight hair looks, and on my curling iron curls - This is my “security blanket” of a product. I am madly in love with Brilliantine. Fact.

I’ve also snatched up some Curl Reactivating Mist and a Curl Conscious Nourishing Masque.

I have recently been experimenting with the Curl products and I am, again, a big fan. In April, when I had “Baby Sister” I brought Curl Conscious samples with me to the hospital – and let me tell you, I was feelin’ pretty darn good lookin’ in those new-mom-again photos.

At home, because we will probably be on the go most of the time, I’m planning on my natural curl being my main look. Partially because I am expecting (and hoping) it to rain the entire time I am home and I don’t want to be constantly fighting the rain to keep my hair how I want it (true Oregonians don’t use umbrellas haha!).
The Curl Reactivating Mist is something I will be keeping in my purse for a lift me up on my curls. It’s great for a next-day revival or just a touch up on limp waves. There’s a little hold – not enough to make me feel like I have too many products in my hair but just enough to provide me some security when my curls are feeling less that luscious.

The Curl Masque smells devine. And it provides the perfect moisture I need to maintain my curls.  So I am excited for this little bit of luxury that I’ll be bringing with me.

Texture is my go-to for curl-making! It amplifies my messy curly hair and helps me achieve the curl I want with no effort – unless you count applying the product.

My Mom is a Crème De Coco fanatic so I will be using her supply of shampoo and conditioner while I’m there.

I’m also bringing my La Bella Donna Anti-aging Hydrating Mineral Mystique. It’s a mineral concealer, allergen-free and perfect for covering up and enriching my flaws with minerals and vitamins.

And my La Bella Donna Scarlett Lip Pencil. It’s super soft, and my favorite shade of red.

And now I’m going to see if I can pack all this, and my clothes, and Lollie’s Accessories, and all the Baby stuff, and all the junk I feel like I have to bring! Wish my luck! I’m going to need it!

Lollie's Beauty & Sports Bar

I am not an Oklahoman. Surprised?

I am a fifth generation Oregonian – please don’t hate me.

Whenever I tell people where I am from, I get nasty looks and a summary of THAT GAME where the Sooners were done wrong in my hometown. Mostly, my response is “I’m sorry I’m sorry I don’t watch football” and then that leads to another look that makes me feel hollow inside.

“DON’T WATCH FOOTBALL???? WHAT ARE YOU???”

Again, I’m sorry, I’m a weird little art geek who doesn’t have the attention span for any sport. And if it makes you feel any better – my mom has issues claiming me because of it (kidding… sort of).

Anyways – I’m not trying to blab on and on about myself. I wanna talk about you! You Okie’s that I have fallen so in love with.

Never would I ever have thought that at a salon where fabulous women of all ages and stages in life come to primp and glamify – NEVER would I have thought this would be a place of sport talk. I don’t know if I’ve just lived in the dark my whole life or if the South sincerely lives for football – either way sports is a common topic here in the Land of Lollie's.

From high school homecoming games to college victories – this state breathes football. There is a change in the atmosphere as soon as “football season” arrives.

Lollie’s even has football themed accessories! And a couple times on a home game of significance we’ve played the Sooner Fight Song repetitively throughout the day. And on days where anyone anywhere is playing football – the salon is all a buzz with people getting beautified for perching up on some bleachers screaming their heads off in pure bliss. I love it! Such a passionate people you Okies are!

Last year, I remember the constant talk of the OKC Thunder. And I’m anxious for that to start up again. The clients and stylists both were constantly chattering about this game and that game, and future games, and which player is cutest and how the referee defiantly made a bad or good call and etcetera etcetera etcetera. I don’t have to watch the games because I get a recap the next day, and the day after and the day after.

It’s great!

I love how regardless of who you are or what you do or what you’re all about – you all come together to cheer and support the same thing. And you look fabulous while doing it. You amaze me.

Anyways - I heard a rumor that there's an official Thunder Game at the end of this moth - so let me ask you.... ARE YOU READY??? Do you have your armor of Thunder gear all ready and prepped to support your team? Are you glamorous and stunning in  your orange and blue? Are you ready? Are you?!?!?!

Green or Green or Green?

GO GREEN or GREEN or GREEN with LOLLIE'S!

At first - I was just going to tell you about these sweet new beverage vessels of wonderfulness! I was going to tell you about how they are from The Mason Bar Company : The Original Mason Jar Tumbler Shop! I was going to tell you how they're fantastic, wonderful, marvelous AND go right along with the Going Green movement!

At first I was going to strictly focus on how Lollie's is providing you a very GREEN product that is very stylish and very GREEN!

But....

But then I noticed how we had lots of GREEN things hanging around too. I love the color GREEN. And GREEN is the color that represents GREEN. And GREEN is the color of.....

GREEN is the color of GRASS! And FERNS! And the majority of the Flora everywhere! And Lollie's loves Flora! Particularly in the form of pretty flowers from our husbands... (hint hint hint).  More GREEN!

My first love, Styling Creme

Hello You Good Lookin' Thing You!

This is "Kait The Great" doing the very first LOLLIE'S blog post!
In case you don't know who I am, I am the short girl who sits at the desk and talks to you, when I'm not assisting stylists. I am an apprentice with Ms.Natalie and, often, a receptionist.
I have been working at Lollie's for three wonderful years now and I can honestly tell you that I have never met a better group of girls in my life. This is, without a doubt, the best job I have ever had and I love what I do. I can also tell you that I learn something new every single day, and I'm hoping that I can help our clients, future clients, and anyone interested in the "Lollie's Way of Life" learn with me!

Bumble is something I had never experienced before Lollie's - and let me tell you it's a LIFE CHANGER. I love Bumble & Bumble and will NOT be satisfied with anything else. Why you ask? Because the products actually do what they say they are going to do.

Example:
I curled my cousins hair for her engagement pictures the other day - and I debated declining her request due to the fact that she has the thickest, most massive, straightest, unswerving hair I have ever seen. I would say that her hair is about as cantankerous and hard headed as she is herself.
But I came prepared with my Bumble weapons of choice and she left with a voluptuous head of bouncing curls that lasted all day long. Mission accomplished.


Styling creme is the product that made me fall in love with Bumble and Bumble. It works well for all hair types and provides a good, strong hold that still has flexibility for a natural look.
I wont lie to you - when it was first suggested to me that I try this fantabulous product I argued - because "my hair problems are too complex for one simple product to solve" WRONG!
I work this little lovely through my hair roots to ends, blow dry and style for a look that lasts all day.

When I say that I fell in love with this product - I'm not fibbing. 

I mean, I love it so much that I showered it with sparkly things,

 I took it on a date,

I met the family and the whole thing!

Styling Creme is so seriously wonderful! I work it through my hair roots to ends and blow dry - I'm then provided with grip, and hold that allow me to achieve the ultimate curl that still has movement. I have the strength needed to lift roots and add body yet still maintain a sweet softness.

To summarize my very first blog post: I love Bumble and Bumble Styling Creme. It is supreme. And I use it regularly. And I trust it always.
